Code Of Conduct

Introduction

At To Øl, we’re committed to creating a festival where our community can come together over our shared passions: craft beer, crafted experiences — and fun for everyone. But to create a space that’s inclusive, safe and unifying, we need your help.

So, we created this Code of Conduct. It outlines the behaviours we all need to embrace to live up to our collective values. This policy applies to everyone involved — from breweries to festival-goers. Please read it before you enter the festival.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out by emailing louisa@to-ol.dk.

Let's create a safe space

At To Øl, we aim to provide a safe space for everyone. That means we have zero tolerance for any discrimination or harassment based on gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion. In other words: treat others the way you would like to be treated.

That also goes for the products we stock and promote: we have no place for products with sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or any other discriminatory branding.

Whoever disregards this zero tolerance policy will be kicked out of the festival immediately. Also, keep in mind that we follow Danish laws. So if the breach of conduct is serious, we’ll contact the police.

Specific behaviours to avoid

Below, we’ve included some examples of behaviours we have zero tolerance for.

Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race or religion.

Deliberate misgendering.

Physical contact (such as hugs or backrubs) without consent or after a request to stop.

Threats or incitements of violence in text, speech or gesture.

Deliberate intimidation.

Stalking or following.

Unwelcome sexual attention.

What to do if you don't feel safe:

If you see anything that gives you a bad gut feeling, do not hesitate to contact our staff or security. No issue is too big or small for us to take seriously: if you feel something’s off, we’ll listen and respond accordingly.

How do you report an incident?

If you notice something that bothers you, you have a few options for speaking up.

Approach a To Øl staff member or a security guard. You can find us walking around wearing festival staff t-shirts and vests — or working behind the bar. If we can’t help you right away, we will reach someone who can.

Go to the safe space booth, which you can find on the festival map. There, we’ll have experienced staff on-site the whole time to handle any problems.

If the problem isn’t urgent, please contact To Øl.

A note on children

It goes without saying, but this is a beer festival —  which means that alcohol consumption will be high across the board. To us, drinking a lot and taking care of children at the same time can pose problems in terms of safety and comfort. We want all of us to have a fun and safe experience — so this time around, let’s try to keep our kids away from an alcohol-driven environment.

Remember: we’re all in this together. Let’s celebrate craft beer culture, connect with our community — and create safety and inclusivity for years to come.

Yours truly,
The To Øl team
